Breaking: Atiku, El-Rufai, Tambuwal Visit Ex-President Buhari in Kaduna. Read More...

In a move that has sparked renewed political speculation, former Vice President and the 2023 presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, paid a surprise post-Sallah visit to former President Muhammadu Buhari at his residence in Kaduna.

Atiku was accompanied by prominent northern political figures including former Kaduna State Governor Malam Nasir El-Rufai, former Sokoto State Governor Aminu Tambuwal, and several other dignitaries.

The visit, which took place on Friday, was confirmed by Atiku through a post on his verified social media handles, where he shared insights into his time with the former Nigerian leader.

“Today, I had the opportunity to pay a post-Sallah visit to His Excellency, Muhammadu Buhari, President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 2015-2023. It was a wonderful time with him. As usual, he cracked me up (to the extent that my ribs were hurting) with his peculiar humour,” Atiku wrote.

The meeting, though described as a friendly Sallah homage, has drawn attention due to the political weight of those present. The presence of El-Rufai, a former APC chieftain known for his sharp political instincts, alongside Atiku and Tambuwal, both key PDP figures, has further fueled discussions around possible political realignments ahead of 2027.

While details of their discussions remain undisclosed, political analysts say the gathering could signal the beginning of strategic consultations among northern power brokers.

Photos from the visit, which quickly went viral, showed the leaders in a relaxed atmosphere, laughing and sharing pleasantries, with Buhari looking visibly pleased by the visit.
